“It has been several years since I joined Lux's fitness of Northborough. It was the best decision I ever made for my overall health. The staff, the program, and the setting are all conducive to getting the best results. The personal trainers develop a routine of exercise that focuses on the individual needs. The age of the client makes no difference. Extensive input from the client assists in the developing of a tailor made routine. Adjustments are made as needed using an analysis of progress. In my case with a serious injury to my shoulder therapy was developed to strengthen that area. I avoided a shoulder replacement with consistent targeted exercises. The trainers and staff are personable and expert at applying their skills to the client's needs. The program provided focuses on improved health through nutrition and sound advice about personal needs for stamina and strength through an exercise routine. A schedule of training sessions is suggested and can be easily adjusted to accommodate the commodate the client. The private studio is easily accessible and visually pleasing. Just ask anyone who is a bonafide member of this exercise studio. Oh, did I forget to mention? “I am several weeks into my Lux personal training experience and already feel it’s one of the best investments I’ve made. Discipline and willpower have never been my strong suits with both exercise and food. Outgrowing my clothes has been downright miserable. After years of fits, starts and unsuccessful new year’s resolutions, I finally took the leap by signing up for personal training at Lux. I needed results. I met with owner Luisa, who patiently reviewed with me the entire detailed questionnaire I had completed. Luisa listened carefully to my background and needs before explaining the Lux system of exercise, nutrition and accountability. I can be quite scattered, so the accountability feature was a critical piece for me. Although I have not yet had my first reassessment, I am noticing progress with consistency, accountability and tracking. I have been trained by Luisa and now Justin. Both are incredibly motivating and push/encourage me, which is what I sorely need. Justin seems to sense at what point pushing will yield diminishing returns. He has been a terrific educator in explaining the purpose of various exercises and how tweaks in form can make a big difference in muscles worked. And he has highlighted the mind/muscle connection, which has raised my consciousness of the muscles being worked while I perform the exercises. I also have had several nutrition sessions with Luisa. While I am a work in progress, for the first time ever I am paying attention to portion control and am much more conscious with what I am putting in my mouth. And I have been consistently tracking my food intake – another first. Luisa carefully reviews my food log and annotates each page with suggestions. She is so passionate about the importance of nutrition in overall body transformation that, even for a food lover like me, she has managed to get me to think twice and avoid some of the goodies in which I would otherwise be indulging. Lux isn’t your ordinary, run-of-the-mill fitness space. The gym occupies an entire farmhouse-like building. Upon entering, you find yourself in a space that feels at once immense and airy yet cozy. The massive vaulted ceiling creates openness to a “gym” divided into individual fitness spaces. At the same time, the gym has a cozy cottage-chic feel that is warm and welcoming. Upbeat music perfect for workouts injects the room with energy, further adding to the study in contrasts. “ I have been a client with Lux Fitness and Wellness for about two and a half years. In that time Lux has helped me to feel physically better and reach and maintain my goals to reduce weight and build upper body strength. The trainers at Lux have been very knowledgeable about the science of exercise and are able to modify exercises if necessary to help achieve goals. They also make exercising fun which I find important because it makes me continue to go my three days a week at 7 a.m. This is significant because I have a poor track record of sticking with something once I start. So they must be good. I particularly like the facility which is small and friendly and has a good selection of equipment with which to work. "How I Lost 60 Pounds with Accountability and Consistency. When started to hear of her older friends and family members being told by doctors that they’d eventually need to get a knee or hip replaced, I knew I had to turn things around for my own health so I didn’t go down that path too. With no exercise history and quite a bit of weight to lose, I decided to give persona training a try. I had never worked with a personal trainer before and had only ever dabbled in walking on the treadmill with various gym memberships, which never stuck. I had high blood pressure, low energy and I was worried about her future, if I kept doing things the way was really wanted to lose weight and learn how to exercise properly, and I knew right away that it was the right choice for me because I’ve always wanted to work with a personal trainer so I wouldn’t get injured and do it safely, and the minute I started at LUXWC, I loved the one-on-one personal attention and how they built me up. When I went in for my first session, my personal trainer took me through fitness assessments, discussed my goals, and then created an exercise and nutrition program tailored exactly to my needs. I was asked to track my food meticulously (even on the weekends, a standard with the Nutrition program), show up for three workouts a week, and I start making better choices with my snacks and meals, and portions without giving up the foods I loved with guidance from my trainers every step of the way. In a little over a year-and-a-half, with the help of the team, I lost 60 pounds, going down from a size 18 to a size 4 in jeans. I used to hate to go clothes shopping and have to look in the mirror at myself. Now I enjoy it because I feel so good. When I started training at I could barely complete one full sit-up, nor hold a plank on her knees. Now I do 25 full sit-ups in a row and holding a plank on my toes for more than 90 seconds. But it’s the performance outside of the gym that gets me even more excited. I work in an old building with a lot of stairs, and I used to get so winded heading up to my office each day. Now, I fly up those stairs. And I can also clean my house for hours without needing a break. I just have more energy and stamina. Perhaps what has made me so successful with my lifestyle changes in the accountability of working with a team of trainers who really care for my well-being.
